How to make eyeshadows POP!

Hey beauties!

We all have those eyeshadows that look gorgeous in the packaging but are so dull once applied.. Never fear! They no longer have to sit in the bottom of your drawers! :)

This is a very well known trick in the makeup industry but I wanted to share just in case anyone doesn't know about it!

Placing a white base under your shadows makes the pigmentation better and the colors become so much more vibrant and beautiful.

I love using NYX's Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk.

Mine is pretty busted looking, but I couldn't find my backup to show you one with new packaging. Unfortunately it is a pencil you need to sharpen, but NYX sells duo sharpeners that have a larger end for these. I also found a dual sharpener at CVS that fits these as well. They are VERY creamy, so much so that it's almost impossible to sharpen! The trick is to put it in the freezer for a few minutes and then it's much easier :)

Here are some swatches that show how much colors pop when this is underneath:

On the far left is the pencil alone..... The left of each color swatch is the shade alone, and the right is with the base underneath. Some shades even look totally different! Doing this can make even the least pigmented shadows have much better color payoff.

All you do is put this on your lid, blend it in and then - apply your eyeshadow! :)

NYX Jumbo Pencils come in TONS of colors and they also have eyeshadow bases in jars that work just as well as the pencils.

They are $4.49 at Ulta!
