"People often say that 'beauty is in the eye of the beholder', and I say that the most liberating thing about beauty is realizing that you are the beholder. This empowers us to find beauty in places where others have not dared to look, including inside ourselves."
- Salma Hayek
Before I get into this review I want to take a second to apologize again for my lack of attention to the blog this month. To be honest I've been feeling a little discouraged about blogging lately. Everything I talk about/review on this blog is all paid for with my own money, with the exception of things gifted to me by Amanda. And as all of you know, makeup isn't cheap.. And I go on YouTube and I see so many vloggers getting thing sent to them for free on a daily basis and I just get frustrated. Majority of bloggers don't get the respect and attention they deserve and other than big name bloggers like Temptalia and Nouveau Cheap, we are all doing this on our own. Most days I'd love to post but I just can't always afford to buy things to review for you guys.. I apologize for venting but I'm not sure many readers understand just how much time, energy, and money goes into blogging.... I digress, I've been discouraged and needed to vent a little but I do apologize for not being around as much and I promise I'm not going anywhere. <3
On to the review! The beloved Urban Decay Naked palettes have a new addition to the family and she is a beauty!
I'll show you the box it comes in, packaging and all that first.
Instead of the sample size of one eyeshadow primer that you get in the previous two palettes, you're getting four smaller sizes of their primers:
You also get a brush:
Before I get into the swatches, if anyone wants comparisons to the other palettes, check out my previous post comparing the others.
I can definitely say that the 3rd seems to be the most unique from the others.. They are mainly pink/rose toned! If you want a post comparing the Naked3 as well, just let me know in the comments below.
Strange - A satin light pink, almost looks like a cream shade in some lighting. Perfect for inner corner and brow-bone highlighting. It's pretty smooth, maybe slightly powdery. Nice pigmentation.
Dust - A gorgeous pink, this one takes some working with... It's mainly chunky glitters and can be a real pain to apply. I'd recommend using a setting spray with this to pack on the color better, otherwise you'll just get a chunky application and half of it will probably end up on your face. I wish the quality was better with this shade because it's so pretty.
Burnout - A beautiful peachy pink satin. Great color payoff, very smooth and creamy.
Limit - A matte dusty rose. This is absolutely one of my favorite shades in this palette. Great color payoff and such a gorgeous color. It's not powdery at all, smooth and easy to apply. Perfect for a blending shade.
Buzz - A cool toned metallic rose shade, lots of sheen to this one. Great color payoff!
Trick - a metallic copper with pink undertones, slight gold glitter to it.. The name of this shade is pretty accurate because this shade is a tricky one... Initially, the color payoff was pretty terrible. But I've found that there's almost a film-type thing over the top so I scraped at it a little bit and underneath was a little bit better texture and pigmentation. I was disappointed because this shade is so unique and pretty but if you work with it a little, it's very nice.
Nooner - A medium pinky-brown matte. Another one of my favorites in this palette! Fantastic pigmentation, perfect for the crease. It's not chalky or powdery and it's just such a nice, unique shade. Definitely one of my most used shades.
Liar - A metallic rosey mauve.. Oh, I love this color so much. Absolutely fantastic pigmentation, super creamy and smooth, very blendable. It's so gorgeous! I love this on the lid for a sexy, smoldery smokey eye. *Side note: this shade is very similar to Naked 1's Toasted.
Factory - A brown satin with pink undertones. Another with great pigmentation, creamy, blendable, soft and smooth!
Mugshot - A metallic taupe frost. Great color payoff, very blendable and beautiful for the outer-v.
Darkside - A deep taupe satin with an almost purpleish tinge to it. Smooth, creamy, pigmented. I love this to deepen the outer-v and crease.
Blackheart - A warm dark burgundy/brown/black with red glitters.. Absolutely gorgeous and so unique! The glitters didn't show up as much in the swatch above, but they are very beautiful and add a totally different dimension to this shade. Fantastic pigmentation!
I absolutely adore this palette. I've been grabbing for it for just about every look I've done these past few weeks. I do wish some of the shades were a tiny bit better but if you are patient enough to work with them a bit, they are all great.
If you own any of the other Naked palettes, do you need this one? Well, I'd say this is different from the other two.. It's more a decision between 1 & 2 versus getting 3... This palette looks great on all skin tones and all eye colors. I think this palette brings something totally different to the table... It's romantic and flirty and sexy. I LOVE IT!
I want to do some looks with this for you guys but my camera is absolutely terrible at getting shots of makeup.. So frustrating! I've done 3 or 4 looks with this palette so far but none of the pictures I took showed the true colors.. I'm saving up for a much better camera so I hope to do tutorials for you guys as soon as possible.
* The Naked 3 Palette costs $52 - available on UrbanDecay.com, as well as Ulta, Sephora you can get them online as well as in store. As with the other Naked palettes, I encourage you to get them from a known dealer (such as Ulta or Sephora) - there are many knockoffs so stay away from Amazon or Ebay, you don't want to spend a pretty penny for a fake.
