Lush's Mask of Magnaminty Review:

"Anyone who takes the time to be kind is beautiful."

- Richelle E. Goodrich

Hey dolls!

I'll be officially starting my new job at the salon/spa tomorrow, which means I'll be working two jobs.. I am going to try my best to post as much as I can, thankfully I will have some weekends off.. But I know it won't be easy and I hope you can forgive me for that. There is so much I want to do with the blog, videos included and thankfully with this job, I'll finally be able to afford some of the things I've had planned for so long! Please be patient with me, darlings. I appreciate my readers so, so much!

On to the review! :)

I got my very first item from Lush last week and I'm really excited to review this today.

mThe ever-popular Mask of Magnaminty!

This has been raved about throughout the beauty community, and you guys know how much I love testing those kinds of products. Does it live up to the hype?

For those of you unfamiliar with Lush, it is a worldwide cosmetic company that makes all natural, handmade bath and body products; ranging from soaps, lotions, skin care, shampoos & conditioners, all the way to makeup! It can get slightly expensive (because everything is all natural and handmade) so I think reviews are extremely important to keep someone from wasting any money on a product that may not be so great.

m1The Mask of Magnaminty is a clay based mask that is suitable to most skin types (AVOID if you are allergic/sensitive to peppermint), however I'd say be careful if you are more on the dry side, as clays can be drying! You can always ask for samples at Lush, so if you are unsure, don't be too shy to ask :)

m4There are two sizes - 4.4 oz for $12.95 and 11.1 oz for $24.95. This is the small size, 4.4 oz!

m5Because these are all natural, fresh products - it's important to remember that there is a 'Use By' date! Always check that when deciding on a size of the product.. If you don't think you will use it all then grab the smaller size! This mask doesn't last for very long so if I ever repurchase this, I think I'll always choose this size.. I'm not sure I'd ever go through the large size in only a few months.

m6Mask of Magnaminty is a thick mint green clay mask with aduki beans for added exfoliation. This smells just like peppermint candy!

Ingredient breakdown:

Bentone Gel - an emulsifier for the oils in this mask.

Kaolin - a clay mineral, great for oily and acneic skin.

Honey - fantastic for the skin! Antimicrobial so it's wonderful for acne, full of antioxidants - great for aging, it's moisturizing, detoxifying and soothing.

Talc - a mineral used in skin care products to help improve the feel of the product.

Ground Aduki beads - for gentle exfoliation.

Glycerine - An emollient that softens and moisturizes the skin.

Evening Primrose Oil - contains Vitamin C, is anti-inflammatory, anti-aging.

Peppermint Oil - contains iron, Vitamin A & C, calcium, potassium, copper, omega-3 fatty acids (and more!).. It's great for anti-aging as well as acneic and oily skin.

African Marigold Oil - anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial - a natural healing oil. Great for inflamed, agitated acneic skin.

Vanilla Absolute - a vanilla essential oil, anti-oxidant, calming, soothing.

Limonene - solvent found in rinds of citrus fruits, used to help penetrate the skin as well as a fragrance.

Fragrance - speaks for itself! Not a fan but it is very low on the ingredients so there isn't much in this.

Chlorophyllin - from chlorophyll, the green pigment in plants - fights free radicals, anti-inflammatory, detoxifying.

Methylbaraben - a paraben/preservative, anti-fungal commonly used in skin care products. I'm not a huge fan of parabens but with a product this natural, including this helps with the shelf-life a bit.

**If you are sensitive to certain foods or ingredients, make sure you always check the ingredient labels!

Always cleanse your face before applying any mask! You can put this on either when your face is damp or dry (I prefer dry).. Leave it on for five to ten minutes and then rinse off. Because of the exfoliating beads, you'll get a nice bit of scrub going as you remove this!

m7You can apply this mask over your entire face or even use it as a spot treatment. This is fantastic for acne prone skin! Any time I have a breakout, I love to apply this on my problem areas. I've found this reduces the size of blemishes within one use!

This has a nice cooling feeling, thanks to the peppermint. I've had absolutely no problems with this drying out my skin (I have sensitive, combination skin).

m8The mask dries to a darker green and gets slightly hard. Head to the sink and rinse! :)

Final verdict? I absolutely love this mask. I think it would be great for just about anyone, but I'd absolutely recommend it for oily & acne prone skin types. It leaves my skin feeling soft and smooth and has totally helped with my breakouts! It calms down irritated, inflamed skin and dries out blemishes without drying out your skin. I highly recommend this!
