Hey beauties! I have an exciting review for you today of an eyeshadow palette from Motives Cosmetics.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with this brand, it is not sold in stores; it's more of a.... Mary Kay, Avon type deal where they have reps who sell it and they also have makeup artists who will give makeover parties and you can purchase through them as well.
I was first introduced to Motives when I was in beauty school, one of their reps came in and did a demo and let us play with the products... I was pretty impressed but I think I'm speaking for many people when I say, if I can't go to a store and physically see the products, play with them, test them... Chances are, I won't purchase. I'm not a fan of ordering things online that I haven't seen in person because I despise having to return things if they aren't what I thought they were.
But, now that we have blogs to see swatches, hear opinions, get a better idea of what you'll be getting.. I think I'm more open to it now. So I'm hoping this post (and I have another review coming after this one) will open you up to Motives more if you haven't seen anything from the line. It's a moderately to high end price range, another reason I shied away from the products... But after trying them out?! I can't believe I didn't try anything sooner!
The Mavens Element Palette is an eyeshadow palette with 8 HUGE eyeshadow pans. Four matte and four shimmer and it costs $35.
I forgot to take a photo of the back, but it has ingredients as well as the shade names!
On to the goodies.... How beautiful are these shades?! The top four are matte, although the black shade looks like it has glitter, once swatched it is totally matte. The bottom four shades are beautiful shimmers.
The pigmentation is phenomenal. The only shade that is somewhat powdery is the lightest shade, Birch.. But this is pretty normal for matte cream shades. There is no shade in this palette that disappoints, all of them are incredible and so soft and buttery.
The kicker here? The lasting power on these eyeshadows.... Are the best I own. Period. Better than Makeup Geek, better than Urban Decay.
This is just a crappy iPhone photo, but I used a few of the shades in this palette - applied at 6am and when I finally got home at 8pm - IT LOOKED THE SAME!!!! Seriously. I was floored. There is no other eyeshadow brand I own that I can claim the same for! I can't even begin to tell you how impressed I am and how much I absolutely adore this entire palette.
I cannot wait to get more eyeshadows from Motives, I tried these out not really expecting much and was so excited when I saw how gorgeous the colors were, and more importantly, how long they last. I can't rave enough about this palette!
I have another review coming up of two lipsticks and a gloss from Motives and I also will be posting a makeup look using this palette!
