February 2015 Favorites :

"People are just as wonderful as sunsets if you let them be. When I look at a sunset, I don't find myself saying, 'Soften the orange a bit on the right hand corner.' I don't try to control a sunset. I watch with awe as it unfolds."

- Carl Rogers

Hello gorgeous! It's March already! No words for how happy I am that it is getting closer and closer to Spring! This winter has been the absolute worst where I live. Bring on the warmer weather!!! :-D

February was a month of exploration for me. I used tons of different products and forced myself daily to try new things and palettes that I haven't used in a while. This is just the basics that I always grabbed for!

February Favorites 1 Let's get started!

February favorites 2 foundations I gave my skin a break most days last month but when I did wear foundation, this was all I would wear. Mixing Estee Lauder Double Wear with Loreal's Infallible Pro-Matte... Applied with my Beauty Blender! It gives a flawless, full coverage finish and it looks absolutely gorgeous in photographs.

-February Favorites 3 setting powder 1 Next up, bareMinerals Mineral Veil! I forgot I had this and have been loving it.

February Favorites 4 Setting powder 2 It has a pale pink tone to it and adds a slight brightening effect. I pack this under my eyes after applying concealer and also right under my contour to carve it out and make it more dramatic. It sets everything beautifully.

My go-to brow routine lately....

milani brow kit 1Another oldie that I rediscovered. Milani's Brow Fix Brow Kit.

milani brow kit 2

This kit has a highlighting shade as well as two brow powders. I apply the brow powders, mixing both shades

- and then go in with:

brows anastasia dip brow 1 Anastasia's Dip Brow in Soft Brown.

brows anastasia dip brow 2

I use a small angled brush (from Eco Tools). Using both a pomade and powder in conjunction helps give a more natural look to the brows. The dip brow alone can look slightly fake, very sculpted and harsh and adding a powder can give more definition to the brow hairs. I prefer mine to look more natural!

February Favorites Calvin Klein Mascara 1Calvin Klein's Volumizing Mascara... This was the birthday gift from Ulta, I'm not sure if it was only for last year or what but I'm surprised how much I've been enjoying this! It's the first time I've tried anything from Calvin Klein.

February Favorites Calvin Klein Mascara 2This mascara is super unique. Can you see the line at the top of the cap? This twists. And when you twist it, it changes the brush!

February Favorites Calvin Klein Mascara 4

It's a twisted, shorter brush. And when you turn it...

February Favorites Calvin Klein Mascara 3

It untwists into a longer, straight brush.

The bristles are short and get right into the base of the lashes. It's not too wet of a formula but not so dry that it flakes. I've had no issues with this smudging and it lasts all day. It adds nice length but also volume, which I love!

February Favorites Crown Brush Skinny mocha gloss 1

My current go-to gloss is Crown Brush's Lush Lip Gloss in Skinny Mocha.

February Favorites Crown Brush Skinny Mocha Gloss 2

My favorite glosses are nude or pale pinks. They are perfect to throw in your purse and for day-to-day makeup looks. Skinny Mocha is that perfect nude-pink shade. The formulation is so nice, it's creamy and pigmented, not sticky but lasts for a while on the lips. I'm really loving these glosses!

February Favorites Clay Mask

Last favorite is a skincare product! TruSelf Organics contacted me asking to send me this clay mask and I jumped at the chance to try it! Clay masks are targeted towards normal to oily skin, acne prone and those who want to detoxify and clean out their pores. I suggest those with dry skin avoid these types of masks because they tend to dry out the skin quite a bit!

February Favorites Clay Mask 2

This is a powder mask that you mix with water or you can experiment and mix it with apple cider vinegar, even a half water/half lemon juice mix, drop an oil or two in there... This is a customizable clay mask, which I love! I always mix it with apple cider vinegar and add a drop or two of tea tree oil. Mix it into a thick paste, apply it all over your face and let it dry! Be careful with mixing this with ACV because it is very acidic and can easily irritate your skin if you aren't used to it. I would dilute it as you try this out and see how your skin reacts!

This mask brings all those blemishes to the surface and really helps to clean out your pores. The ingredients are fantastic and I am absolutely loving this!!

So there are my February Favorites! Nothing too exciting but I experimented so much that I wanted to just let you know about those basics that I used daily.
