"To be brave, by definition, one has first to be afraid."
- Robert Harris
Hello my beauties!! I'm sorry I've been so MIA on here. Life has just gotten in the way, as it tends to do so I thought I'd hop on here and fill you in on what's been going on with me and also start a new series type thing that I'm going to be doing where I share my makeup looks for the week! I'm the most active on Instagram and that is where I post my makeup looks but I know not all of you have an account so hopefully you'll enjoy these!
Hmmm where to start?
If you follow any of my social media accounts, you've probably seen my debate on whether to invest in a new camera or not.. I've had a Canon Rebel T3i for the past year or so and it's fantastic.. But there were a few features that I've been wanting that this camera just doesn't have... Autofocus during filming for example.... The goal is to eventually, when I get brave enough, start YouTube. So I finally bit the bullet and invested in a beautiful new baby!
The Sony a5100! Isn't she purdy?! The quality this gives makeup photography is phenomenal, it's very true to color and the flash is actually useable - and amazing. I am loving this camera and although it will take me some time to master how to use it and all the settings, I can't wait to provide better photos and soon, videos!
Next up, and the biggest news as of late..... A new job! I started training yesterday, I will be the part-time esthetics educator at the beauty school I graduated from! I am so excited but very nervous and there is SO much to learn! I am so thankful that it is part time so I can still dedicate days to TMUA. Being able to do it all at once is such a blessing!
So those are pretty much the biggest and most important things I wanted to share with you guys. I'm going to try to be much more consistent with my posts, I've been very uninspired lately so I hope that it will get better and please, if you'd like to see anything specific; whether it be reviews, makeup looks, diy's, favorites, etc... Let me know!
Makeup of the week!
I skipped wearing makeup for quite a few days this week. I've had cystic/hormonal acne lately and I wanted to let my skin breathe as much as possible!
My easy, super quick go-to look as of late has been utilizing Benefit's Hoola bronzer as both a bronzer/contour shade and an eyeshadow! Throw this in the crease alone or paired with other shadows and it is so blendable and beautiful! This isn't the best photo of it but this is usually what I throw on days when I'll be staying at my boyfriends and don't want to bring ridiculous amounts of makeup with me.
My go-to, nearly every single day lip has been using ColourPop's Bound lip pencil with Wet N Wild's Bare It All matte lipstick. Sometimes I'll throw on a nude gloss but this is my current favorite nude lip and it goes with absolutely everything!
Another favorite easy, fast but beautiful look of mine! Throw a quick blending/transition shade in the crease, apply winged liner and lashes. Brows, bronzer and blush and then a fun pop of color on the lips!
My lips in this photo is a mixture of MAC's whirl lipstick with Amorous, another absolutely stunning lipstick from MAC.
If you know you'll be out all day, pack black eyeshadow on your liner to keep it lasting all day long! And if you're wearing lashes, don't forget to bring the glue with you just in case one of the corners starts to lift up! That's the worst.
Ending the week off, I just had to go at least a little glam! But this is also super easy to do! Can you see a trend here? It was one of those months where I was busy but also uninspired so I didn't want/couldn't put a ton of time into creative looks. Simple but pretty, that's been the goal.
A little more dramatic contouring with Benefit's Hoola, a gorgeous nude lip using that Bound lip pencil again with Motive's Flesh Lipstick. For the eyes, I used all Makeup Geek eyeshadows and that inner corner glitter is a random one I found in one of my makeup drawers! I'm pretty sure it's an old craft glitter, which I wouldn't recommend using on the eyes so if you can invest in some cosmetic glitters, I'd highly suggest that! Lit Cosmetics has GORGEOUS ones!
I used Peach Smoothie as a transition and blending shade. Cupcake in the crease and Bitten in the outer corner! Maybelline's Gel Liner and then go in with Bitten on the lower lash line and blend it out with Cupcake! So easy!
I hope you all have been doing well! Thank you for your patience, it's been quite a transition lately with so many things going on at once - thankfully AMAZING things - I am so blessed and I love you all so much! Let me know what posts you'd like to see in the comments below or on any of my social media! xoxo.
