Andalou Naturals Pumpkin Honey Glycolic Mask:
"Look at the sky: that is for you. Look at each person's face as you pass on the street: those faces are for you. And the street itself, and the ground under the street, and the ball of fire underneath the ground: all these things are for you. They are as much for you as they are for other people. Remember this when you wake up in the morning and think you have nothing."
- Miranda July, No one Belongs Here More Than You
So... They let me loose in the Vitamin Shoppe again..... I swear, I can't leave that store without spending close to $100. It never fails.
As I said in my August Favorites, I've been testing out a bunch of new skincare and the mask I'll be talking about today quickly became one of my favorites. A few of you on Snapchat said that you wanted to see a review on this so here it is! :)
This was very intriguing to me. On the box it says it is for Normal & Combination Skin.
The description, "Organic pumpkin, rich in beta carotene, blended with Manuka honey and citrus glycolic AHA, gently dissolve and lift away dull surface cells, exfoliating and resurfacing for even tone and smooth texture as Fruit Stem Cell Complex helps revitalize for a brighter, more luminous complexion."
My skin is combination but it has been more dry lately. Uneven tone and texture and overall, just dull. Many skincare products claim to brighten but I just had good vibes with this one.
The ingredients are fantastic. This is also gluten and GMO free as well as certified organic. I'm trying to keep everything I use as natural and organic as I can and cut out the chemicals as much as possible. This mask was a must try!
Some of the most prominent ingredients: pumpkin puree, aloe vera juice, sunflower oil, manuka honey, and pineapple juice. This also is said to have fruit stem cells that renew dormant cells, repairs damaged and regenerates healthy cells. Also BioActive 8 Berry Complex which is "a certified organic portfolio of super fruit antioxidants".
This mask is very thin, although it looks like it would have a thick consistency in the jar and it has a nice spicy pumpkin scent.
You'll want to apply this to dry skin after cleansing. Avoid your eyes and lips!! Leave on for 5-10 minutes and rinse with cool water. If you have sensitive skin, I would highly recommend you leave it on for only a few minutes at first. I have fairly sensitive skin and this burns but not unbearable or anything. I sort of like the burn but most probably wouldn't. When I apply this, I like to really rub and work it into the skin and then leave it on for a while.
This leaves my skin feeling soft and after using this a few times, I already see a difference. My skin looks more even, less textured and there's a radiance that was not there before. This is definitely exfoliating so I'd use this in replace of whatever exfoliator you'd ever use, especially if you're going to be using this more than once a week. Make sure you rinse with cool water and apply your favorite moisturizer after!
I LOVE this mask. It's been a long time since I've used one that genuinely made my skin look better within only a few uses.
The Andalou Naturals Pumpkin Honey Glycolic Mask is around $14.95 at the Vitamin Shoppe and you can usually find it for less on Amazon.
