all day wear

Heat-Proof, Sweat-Proof, All Day Wear; Full Face Makeup for All Skin Types - Part 1 - Prepping the Skin:

"The universe did not breathe star fire into your bones just so you could burn yourself out over someone who treats you like a cigarette break. Hold out for the person who treats you like the sun. Because that is who you are."

- You Are The Sun to Someone; Nikita Gill

Hello my loves! I have been SO busy lately and between long hours and the warmer weather, I've been trying to perfect an entire full face routine that can last all day through just about anything... And I'm pretty sure I found it! This should work for any and every skin type which makes it even better!

* I have normal to combination skin, however I will add in products for dry skin as well!

Let's start with priming! Get ready to hear lots of "long wear" when it comes to these products :)

As requested, this will be broken up into two parts. The first is prepping and priming the skin, preparing it for all this long wear makeup and the second part will be eyes, lips and face!

Heat-Proof makeup - priming

Priming is key, no matter your skin type. Cleanse and moisturize your skin first and then go in with your primers! These three are my holy grails right now and work amazing together. This will be perfect for normal to oily, and if you have dry skin... The next photo is for you!

Benefit's Porefessional: A pore minimizing primer. Pat this into areas of your face with larger pores you'd like to hide. Patting motions will help the product sink in better!

tarte's Clean Slate Poreless Primer: A silicone primer that helps to smooth small imperfections. This holds my oils really well! I'd suggest a more moisturizing primer for those with dry skin.

Smashbox Primer Water: This is a priming and hydrating water. This doesn't prime my skin well enough on its own but used in conjunction with other primers, I love it! You can also use this to foil eyeshadows!

bullet proof makeup for dry skin tips

For my dry skin babies, you'll need as much moisture as a base as possible. This will not only help the foundation look perfect and prevent dry patches, but it will also help your skin to maintain moisture throughout the day. Apply your favorite beauty oil and let it sink in for 5-10 minutes before or after you apply your primers. Also a moisturizing spray can work wonders, MAC's Fix + is a perfect example but I've also found that this Smashbox Primer Water adds a nice amount of moisture as well. Use the oils and a spray together and your skin will be prepped for foundation!

tarte's Maracuja Oil (sample size): This oil is so versatile! From moisturizing the skin and hair to reviving gel eyeliners! I can't be without this!!

Boscia's Tsubaki Beauty Oil: Tons of benefits from the skin from protection against free-radicals, firming, brightening and hydrating. I absolutely love this, although those with oily/acneic skin should be careful and use this sparingly! When my skin is extra dry/irritated, I'll use this mixed with my moisturizer at night. Great for dry skin!

heat-proof, sweat-proof makeup. priming the eyes

Eyes are very similar to the face, priming first is SO important! Even when I'm not wearing shadows, I still prime my eyes to prevent any mascara from smudging or running throughout the day.

Lorac's Behind the Scenes Eye Primer: This is the sample size I've received with my Lorac Pro Palettes. This is a nice primer, it has a little bit of pigmentation to it to help cancel out slight discoloration or veins on your lids. I don't think this would last the longest on super oily lids!

MAC's Paint Pot (in Painterly): Paint Pots are a must for me and are usually the only primers I use. The others above, I occasionally grab for but I love these so much. Painterly is perfect for my skin tone, it cancels out any discoloration and leaves the perfect base for any eyeshadows. It keeps shadows on all day and I'd say this would be good for just about anyone! If your lids are more on the dry side, apply your moisturizing eye cream 5 minutes before; I've found this can be slightly drying at times.

NYX Eyeshadow Base in White: I've used this for years! It's basically the jumbo eye pencil in milk, except in a pot form and for some reason, this works better for me. Once it sets on the eye, it doesn't budge and because it's white, your eyeshadows really pop! Also, the consistency leaves the shadows clinging on for dear life and they last all day :)

Urban Decay's Eyeshadow Primer Potion: This formula is anti-aging but I love just about all of them! Some have pigmentation to cancel out discoloration and they all seem to hold up pretty well on even the most oily of lids. I keep these simple sizes in my kit because I know they are always dependable.

Pricing ranges on size and amount of product. You can purchase sample sizes, full sizes as well as kits of a few primers in one!

I can't stress enough the importance of prepping the skin! Starting with a fresh, clean base and applying products that will help not only to keep your skin moisturized and healthy, but giving you that flawless base to apply your cosmetics on. You will see a world of difference when you take the time to prep first!

Now that your skin is all prepped for makeup, give it one more spray with your Fix + or Primer Water and let's jump into the fun part :)
